November 14 World Diabetes Day

To date, the number of patients with diabetes worldwide is more than 463 million people. Given the relevance and medical and social significance of this problem, WHO has declared diabetes mellitus an epidemic of the 21st century.

According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the number of patients with diabetes mellitus has increased by 3.5 times over the past 15 years in Kazakhstan. This was stated by the Vice Minister (at that time) of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azhar Giniyat at the Central Asian Diabetes Forum "Diabetes: from monitoring to management", which was held in Tashkent in November 2021.

At the beginning of 2021, 382,000 people were registered with dispensaries in our country. As of Q1 2022, the number of registered patients with diabetes was 431,871 people, which shows a significant increase in this indicator compared to the previous year.

Prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, is an absolute priority for the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As part of the annual Diabetes Day, which is held on November 14 at the Center for Healthy Lifestyle with the participation of the endocrinologist Abdrakhmanova Zh.T. a Health School was held for patients with risk factors, as well as those who already have diabetes mellitus.
