Reducing Neonatal Mortality and Childhood Disability: International Experts in Prenatal Medicine Gathered in Astana

The Second International Congress of Prenatal Medicine Specialists was held in Astana at the initiative of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was organized by the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the public association “Prenatal Medicine Specialists.”
The event brought together leading geneticists, ultrasound specialists, and molecular geneticists from various countries, including the USA, Spain, Ukraine, France, Portugal, and Russia. The total number of participants exceeded 400 people.
Held under the motto “A Healthy Generation — the Future of the Nation,” the Congress aimed to unify the experience and knowledge of experts to reduce neonatal mortality and disability among children. Participants exchanged opinions and shared achievements in the field of prenatal and postnatal diagnostics of congenital malformations and chromosomal pathologies.
The Congress also addressed innovations in prenatal screening, the implementation of new ultrasound markers for detecting chromosomal abnormalities, modern methods for early diagnosis of genetic diseases, as well as techniques for identifying and treating rare hereditary disorders. Special attention was given to new technologies in prenatal diagnostics, the role of reproductive technologies in preimplantation screening, and the prospects of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT).
Issues related to the implementation of the “One-Day Clinic” model and the assessment of its effectiveness were also discussed.
It is worth noting that a medical exhibition showcasing the latest innovations and achievements in the field of medicine was organized as part of the Congress.
