For the first time in Kazakhstan, an endoscopic transbronchial biopsy was performed under ultrasound control

A unique endoscopic diagnostic operation on the chest organs was performed at the Presidential Hospital. The technology of endobronchial ultrasonography with a transbronchial aspiration fine needle puncture (EBUS TBNA) was for the first time applied in our country. With the benefit of this new technology, the efficiency has increased to 95% in foreign countries and previously it was up to 80%.

Previously, these procedures were performed only in top foreign clinics. Now this procedure is available in the Presidential Hospital to all citizens of Kazakhstan.

Performance of such operation using new technologies will make it possible to do a biopsy in real mode in the chest organs without opening. This has a positive effect on the patient’s recovery period. After the first operation using EBUS TBNA technology, the patient was discharged three hours after the examination. Usually, with an open lung biopsy method, it takes up to 5 days to recover.
