Extracorporeal Haemocorrection Department

The Department of Extracorporeal Hemocorrection is a structural subdivision of the Presidential Hospital, which is designed to provide detoxification and renal replacement therapy to the attached contingent, patients on a paid and contractual basis, both inpatient and outpatient patients. The Department is located in block B2, 2^nd floor. Extracorporeal methods of treatment (EMT) are based on non-organismal effects on the patient’s blood in order to quantitatively and qualitatively change its cellular, protein, water-electrolyte, enzyme or gas composition. EMT refers to methods that allow to free the blood from toxic or ballast elements (plasmapheresis, cytapheresis, hemodiafiltration, hemosorption), to exchange proteins, gases, electrolytes (plasma exchange, hemodialysis), as well as to correct the physical and chemical state of the blood. Treatment is carried out on modern medical equipment, using disposable consumables, eliminating the possibility of cross-infection of patients.

Services of the Department

• Plasmapheresis is a low-traumatic and highly safe method of blood purification, based on the removal of the liquid part of the blood (plasma) or an excess of shaped elements (red blood cells, platelets, white blood cells) for therapeutic purposes
  
  
• Hemodialysis is a method of releasing the body from low-molecular substances (hydrophilic) by diffusing them through a semipermeable membrane

• Hemodiafiltration, hemofiltration is a specialized semi-selective membrane method of extracorporeal dialysis using modified “artificial kidney” devices

• Hemosorption is a method of extra-renal purification of blood from toxic substances by adsorption of poison on the sorbent surface. It is used to remove various toxic products from the blood, mainly hydrophobic substances
