What is the difference between CT and MRI?
21.01.2022
An ordinary person does not see the difference between CT and MRI. He has a device in front of his eyes, into which a patient is brought and held for several minutes.
In fact, these are two different studies, which shall be prescribed strictly according to indications. They are similar, but there are differences: MRI works on the basis of a magnetic field, and CT - on X-ray radiation. They give a different picture and perceive the internal structures of the body in their own way.
It is important to remember
- CT shows hard structures better, and MRI shows soft ones;
- CT gives radiation load, but MRI does not;
- Brain pathologies are recognized by MRI, and coronavirus pneumonia is recognized by CT.
