The Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted the International Conference “Theranostics in Kazakhstan-2026”

On March 12-13, one of the most significant events in the field of nuclear medicine and oncology took place in Astana. The international conference “Theranostics in Kazakhstan-2026” was organized with the support of GE HealthCare and the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On the first day, a series of hands-on workshops were conducted across four parallel tracks, focusing on advanced technologies in nuclear medicine. The training sessions covered nuclear medicine, radiochemistry, cyclotron physics, and medical physics.

On the second day, the scientific and practical conference entitled “Theranostics in Kazakhstan:The Time Has Come” was held, featuring presentations by leading experts from the United States, Germany, Russia, and Kazakhstan. The event brought together more than 300 specialists, including nuclear medicine physicians, oncologists, radiologists, medical physicists, radiochemists, and researchers from various countries.

Participants gained practical insights into modern diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, including radionuclide therapy, radiosynoviorthesis, radiopharmaceutical production, and quality control procedures. The conference served as an important platform for discussing the future development of theranostics and nuclear medicine, as well as the integration of advanced technologies into clinical practice.

A key highlight of the event was the introduction in Kazakhstan of a new high-tech treatment modality-radionuclide therapy for bone metastases in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer (Ra-223).

As part of the event, at the Center of Nuclear Medicine of the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the first patient in Kazakhstan has already received the first course of this innovative therapy. This technology enables targeted treatment of bone metastases, reduces pain, improves patients’ quality of life, and increases overall survival

The event marked a significant milestone in the development of nuclear medicine in Kazakhstan, strengthening professional collaboration and facilitating the exchange of expertise among specialists from different countries.
