An Event Dedicated to World Obesity Day Held at the Medical Center Hospital of the PAA RK

A preventive health campaign dedicated to World Obesity Day was held at the Medical Center Hospital of the PAA RK. The event, titled “Healthy Weight Territory,” aimed to raise awareness about the problem of excess weight and its impact on health.

Acting Head of the Center for Healthy Lifestyle Promotion at the Medical Center Hospital, Gulnar Turdunova, noted that the main goal of the campaign was to remind people of the importance of weight control and to draw attention to the problem of obesity. “Excess body weight is a risk factor for more than 200 diseases, including diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular conditions, and joint diseases. According to international studies, more than 1 billion people worldwide are currently living with obesity, and this number continues to grow. Therefore, it is important not only to treat the consequences but also to focus on prevention, the development of healthy habits, and a conscious approach to personal health,” she emphasized.

The campaign attracted considerable interest from visitors. In total, around 100 people took part in the event, with 58 participants completing registration and undergoing express health screening. Participants had their height, weight, body mass index (BMI), and waist circumference measured. These indicators help assess potential health risks and highlight the need for lifestyle changes.

As part of the event, a consultation area was organized where visitors could receive recommendations from an endocrinologist, nutritionist, psychologist, and therapist. Specialists provided guidance on balanced nutrition, the importance of physical activity, and the psychological aspects of developing sustainable healthy habits.

Guests also took part in a healthy nutrition master class and a therapeutic exercise session. An instructor demonstrated simple exercises that can easily be performed at home and help maintain physical activity even with a busy work schedule.

For many participants, the campaign provided an opportunity to pause amid their daily routines, check important health indicators, and reflect on the first steps toward positive lifestyle changes. Events like this serve as a reminder that caring for one’s health begins with simple decisions and small daily habits.
