Center for Respiratory Medicine at MCH: Innovations in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Lung Diseases

Based on the Pulmonology Department of the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Center for Respiratory Medicine brings together specialists from various fields who provide care for patients with respiratory system diseases.

One of the key principles of the Center’s work is a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment. This means that a team of doctors from different specialties works on addressing various aspects of a single clinical problem. The second important principle is a personalized — individual — approach to each patient, taking into account all comorbidities and the specifics of their condition.

The hospital is the only clinical institution in Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region where the study of lung diffusing capacity with carbon monoxide using the single-breath method (DLco) has been introduced and is actively used. In addition, for the first time in the country, our hospital implemented the method of body plethysmography (BPG) — a unique diagnostic tool with no analogues in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It allows for an in-depth study of respiratory mechanics and the assessment of lung volumes and capacities.

All activities of the Center for Respiratory Medicine are aimed at the high-quality and timely detection of respiratory diseases and the provision of necessary care in accordance with the principles of evidence-based medicine, clinical protocols, and international recommendations.

As part of MCH’s strategic development, the Center faces important tasks to improve pulmonology care for the population of Kazakhstan, relying on the latest advances in modern medical science.
