Master class for neurologists at the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan

For the purpose of interaction and development of partnership relations with foreign clinics, within the framework of the project “Clinic in Clinic” M.D., Ph.D., associated professor, neurologist of the University Clinic named after Louis Pasteur (Slovakia), Matej Skorvanek conducted a master class for neurologists of the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 

As part of the master class, lectures were organized for doctors at the Hospital on the following topics: “Diagnostic criteria for Parkinson’s disease. Possibilities of surgical treatment”; “Phenomenology and peculiarities of diagnostics of different types of dystonias. Selection criteria for deep brain stimulation”;

“Tremor. Phenomenology. Practical techniques in establishing the diagnosis. Surgical treatment ofdifferent types of tremor”.

In addition, consultations were carried out for 67 patients, 1/3 of whom were previously operated in our Hospital. The effect of the operation was monitoredand neurostimulation parameters were adjusted. Most of the patients who applied for the consultation were diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, the remaining patients with various types of Parkinsonism, dystonia and tremors. As a result of examining patients, Dr. Matej Skorvanek noted the compensability of symptoms in patients with Parkinson’s disease who are seen for conservative treatment at our Hospital. 

5 neurologists of Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2 residents of UMC and a doctor from the medical organization of Aktau took part in the master class. 

As a result of the master class plans for further joint cooperation with Professor Matej Skorvanek and our doctors in the field of research activities in the field of neurology were outlined.
