Review of new technologies implemented in the practice of the Presidential Hospital in the first half of 2022

  15.07.2022

The introduction and successful implementation of innovative projects and technologies in order to ensure a high level of quality of services is one of the main indicators of the activities of the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the results of the first half of 2022, 8 new diagnostic and treatment technologies were introduced into the practice of the Presidential Hospital.

With a view to expand high-tech medical care, two technologies were introduced: in the field of spinal neurosurgery, carried out in a hybrid operating room, and in the field of traumatology and orthopedics, using a unique knee prosthesis that allows to achieve flexion of the joint up to 155 degrees (design of the prosthesis was developed specifically for Islamic countries).

Two minimally invasive technologies have been introduced in proctology and urology. Such surgeries are much easier to pass, with a faster recovery process and return to daily activities, and have fewer side effects.

It should be noted that for the first time in Kazakhstan 2 technologies were introduced: “Molecular-genetic diagnosis of mutation in cerebral glioma” and “Combined treatment (endovascular and microsurgical) of arteriovenous fistula of the medullary cone”.

Molecular genetic analysis of gliomas is key to identifying the molecular features of brain tumor tissue that contribute to individual tumor risk and to selecting potential biomarkers useful for clinical applications.

Combined treatment (endovascular and microsurgical) of arteriovenous fistula of the medullary cone is performed in a hybrid operating room using a biplane angiograph and a high-tech modern Kinevo900 microscope. As a result of this surgery, normal blood flow to the spinal cord is restored, allowing recovery of the existing neurological symptoms.

Implemented technologies are successfully used in the treatment and diagnosis of patients. In the first half of 2022, 49 patients were treated and 574 patients were diagnosed.
