Respiratory Medicine Center of Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Respiratory Medicine Center (RMC) was created in Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan in December 2022. The need for creating the Center was dictated by high incidence of acute and chronic diseases of respiratory system in the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was seeking medical care at the Hospital высокой. Creation of the Center has become possible due to highly qualified respiratory medicine specialists of the Hospital – pulmonologists, endoscopists, radiologists, functional diagnostics specialists, who have competencies corresponding to requirements of international standards. Availability of state-of-the-art high-tech expert class equipment at the Hospital also played its role for creation of the Center.

– Does the Respiratory Medicine Center operate on the basis of one unit of the Hospital?

– RMC’s activity is carried out in the form of multidisciplinary interaction of several structural units of the Hospital: pulmonology, functional diagnostics, X-ray diagnostics, endoscopy departments, biochemical, microbiological, genomic laboratories, sleep laboratory, rehabilitation and physiotherapy department.

– Which doctors work at the Center?

– Center’s activity is performed by formed multidisciplinary team consisting of pulmonologists, radiologists, endoscopists, pathologists.

– Which diseases are treated at the Center?

– Thanks to multidisciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating respiratory diseases, the Center allows diagnosing and treating the most complicated pathological conditions of respiratory system, including severe respiratory failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, different variants of bronchial asthma, including severe eosinophilic asthma, interstitial lung pathologies (IPL) with morphological verification of their variants, pulmonary pathologies caused by systemic connective tissue diseases, respiratory infections, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, rare pulmonary diseases.

– What is the Center unique for?

– Center’s specialists, supported by Medical Center of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Management of the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan had implemented super-modern methods of diagnosing severe pulmonary diseases, including rare ones – high-resolution computer tomography of lungs with CT-densitometry of lung tissue, transbronchial endoscopic biopsy of lungs, intrathoracic lymph nodes with endo-bronchial ultrasonography (EBUS). Nuclear Medicine Center also conducts such examinations as positron emission tomography, radioisotope scintigraphy of lungs. Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the only medical center, which actively conducts examinations of diffusion capacity of lungs (DLco), bodyplethysmography (BPG). High-capacity clinical diagnostic laboratory of the Hospital allows performing all necessary laboratory tests for determining genesis and severity of inflammation, hematological disorders, diagnose oncopathology, autoimmune processes. Thanks to introduction of mass spectrometry, possibilities of identifying wide range of infection agents – bacteria, fungi, viruses have been significantly expanded. Wide range of testing programs of genomic laboratory, pathology department is a confirmation of high evidence-based level of diagnostic verification and treatment of respiratory tract diseases.

All Center’s activities are based on evidentiary medicine principles in accordance with requirements of the National Clinical Protocols for diagnosing and treating respiratory diseases, as well as international guidelines. All of Center’s specialists are members of profile national and international scientific Associations.

– Is any educational or scientific activity conducted on the basis of Respiratory Medicine Center?

– Residents from Nazarbayev University, Karaganda Medical University, Astana Medical University are trained at the Center under residency programs. It is planned to create our own residency program in pulmonology at the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of the Center.

The Center hosts scientific-clinical research, results of which are published in republican and international publications. The 1st National Congress of Respiratory Medicine was organized and held in November 2022 by specialists of RMC together with National Society of Respiratory Medicine, National Scientific Medical Center, Astana Medical University.

RMC specialists actively participate in developing clinical protocols of diagnostics and treatment of respiratory system diseases, work in multidisciplinary expert panels on interstitial lung diseases, severe bronchial asthma.

Specialists of the Center provide consultative and methodological support to regional medical organizations, which treat patients with respiratory pathologies. In order to raise professional level of specialists from the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Astana and Almaty cities, Center’s specialists conduct scientific-practical conferences, master-classes, including international ones, in Astana and Almaty, Karaganda, Semey, Shymkent, Aktobe, Oral, Oskemen, Atyrau cities.
